Swap old for new at plant exchange

Do you have an urge for more spurge? Are you silly for lilies? You may find both at the annual perennial plant exchange hosted by the Lakeshore Garden Club of Lexington!

This is the time of year when gardeners are starting their fall cleanup and dividing the perennial plants in their yards. Often, they find they have too many – or too few. Don’t throw those unwanted plants away! Instead, swap them for something new and different.

The Perennial Plant Exchange will be held this year from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Sept. 16 in front of the band shell in Tierney Memorial Park, Lexington.

Bring clearly labeled pest-free specimens to exchange in individual containers. There will be refreshments and also the opportunity to swap growing tips with other gardeners. With any luck the weather will cooperate for this nice seasonal get-together.
